Facebook group is one of the best way to level up your technical skills. I’ve been also using them to keep me engage and up to date with the local tech community here in the Philippines, or just to reach out fellow developers. Some groups offers seminars (some are free) that every Pinoy tech enthusiasts should utilize.
Here are some recommendation – in which some of these i personally attended.
DevCon is one of Philippines’ most active tech community. Frequently, they are conducting free code camp for both professionals and students, most of which are limited – be sure to sign-up on their e-mail to be notified.
Software development is not all about coding, like other crafts, you need discipline – that’s where Agile comes in. This groups was meant to discuss, promote Agile Software Development to local software engineers and other I.T practitioner. They are conducting monthly event so be sure to attend for a good introduction to agile practice if your new to it.
Microsoft Developers Philippines
For local .NET processionals and those who are using Microsoft technologies – this could be the best group that you can join and keep your knowledge up to date. They are discussing various new Microsoft technologies every month. Event is mostly held at Microsoft Office in 6750 Makati.
Of course you can ask about JQuery – but be ready for a death stare (kidding).
